The numbers of infections and deaths in the United States continues to be very worrying for its population.
The United States this Sunday reached the figures of 4,229,624 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 146,909 deaths, according to the independent count from Johns Hopkins University.
This balance, at 8:00 p.m. local time (00:00 GMT on Monday), includes 55,187 more infections than on Saturday and 518 new deaths, which in both cases represents a moderation with respect to recent days.
The state of Florida is the second with the highest contagion of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the US after California , surpassing that of New York on Saturday with more than 414,000 cases since last March, which accumulates more than 411,000, according to figures from state and federal authorities.

Despite this, the state of New York remains the worst hit in terms of deaths in the United States.
The growing concern within the Government was evident with the radical turn in the speech by President Donald Trump, who until recently had maintained some skepticism about the seriousness and magnitude of the pandemic problem in the country.
"Probably, unfortunately, (the pandemic) will get worse before it gets better. It’s something I don’t like to say, but that’s the way things are," the US president stressed at a press conference on Tuesday.
The provisional death toll -146,391- has already far exceeded the lower limit of the initial estimates of the White House, which in the best of cases projected between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths due to the pandemic.
At first, Trump lowered those estimates and was confident that the final figure would be between 50,000 and 60,000 deaths, although later he predicted up to 110,000 deaths, a number that has also been exceeded.
For its part, the Institute for Health Metrics and Assessments (IHME) of the University of Washington, whose models for predicting the evolution of the pandemic are often set by the White House, estimates that the United States will arrive in October with about 200,000 dead and that for the presidential elections of November 3 could close to 220,000.
