He was only 44 years old and it was the cancer known as carcinoma that led Dustin Diamond, Screech in "Saved by the Bell" to his death.
Dustin Diamond, who was known as Screech in the series "Saved by the Bell" ("Saved by the bell") died today after spending three weeks battling a carcinoma, said his representative.
The 44-year-old actor was diagnosed with cancer and therefore had to start chemotherapy treatment. “Dustin Diamond did not suffer. He didn’t have to be in pain. For that, we are grateful, ”said the actor’s spokesman, Roger Paul, in a statement.
The news of Dustin’s death was also announced by People magazine on their social networks, where they wrote:
"Saved by the bell, Dustin Diamond died at the age of 44 after being diagnosed with cancer just three weeks ago."
Dustin’s representative a few weeks ago revealed that he had already finished the first stage of treatment and that he was already scheduled to start the second round of chemotherapy.
“Dustin completed his first round of chemo and is scheduling his second. Physiotherapy will also begin soon, ”said the actor’s spokesman, Roger Paul, in a statement.
"Dustin is looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend, playing his bass, playing video games and making videos for his fans on social media," he added.
"Saved by the Bell" aired from 1989 to 1993 and gave way to spinoff series "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" and "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," in which Diamond appeared. A sequel was released last year with many of the original cast actors, including Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, but not Diamond.
He was on a handful of reality shows, including the fifth season of "Celebrity Fit Club," "The Weakest Link," and "Celebrity Boxing 2." In December 2013, he appeared on an episode of "Where Are They Now?" from OWN and on the 12th season of "Celebrity Big Brother."
Diamond faced several lawsuits for back taxes and foreclosure proceedings for non-payments. He also made a pornographic video and produced a revealing documentary on Lifetime TV titled "The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story." In 2015, he was sentenced to four months in jail for his role in a stabbing at a bar in Wisconsin.
“Dustin was a lively, funny individual whose great passion was making others laugh. He was able to perceive and feel people’s emotions to such an extent that he could feel them – one strength and one flaw at the same time, ”wrote Paul.
