The strength of Hurricane Delta in the Caribbean continues to intensify, meteorological experts report that it has already reached category two on the Saffir-Simpson scale and brings winds of 55 kilometers per hour (km / h), and more violent gusts that beat at 185 km / h.
Things change from one moment to another, Hurricane Delta has intensified and everything indicates that it will impact Quintana Roo sometime on Wednesday, October 7. The forecast is not positive at all, since it brings a brutal force and alerts have been triggered.
The force of Hurricane Delta is such that the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent 5,000 elements to the area. So far it has been reported that Delta is 675 kilometers east of Cozumel.
This was reported by the climate agency of the National Water Commission (Conagua), mentioning through an official statement that Delta is 710 kilometers southeast of Cancun and that its path is directly to Yucatan.
Given this alert, it is expected that in the southwest of Mexico strong gusts of winds will be generated and in Quintana Roo, the winds will move between 80 and 100 km / h. It is not recommended that they go near the sea.
Since the waves can reach up to six meters in height. In Yucatán and Campeche, the gusts will range from 70 to 80 km / h and the waves will be between two and four meters.
The SMN issued the following alerts:
Prevention zone for hurricane force winds (over 118 km / h): from Dzilam, Yucatán, to Tulum, Quintana Roo -including the island of Cozumel, in Q. Roo-.
Prevention zone for tropical storm winds (between 65 and 118 km / h): from Dzilam to Progreso, Yucatán, and from Tulum to Punta Herrero, Q. Roo.
The orange alert translates to "High Hazard", the yellow and green refer to moderate and low risk respectively.
