Science affirms that if you sleep too much you are very intelligent, this is shown by Satoshi Kanazawa in an interesting investigation
According to the normal hours of sleep are from 7 to 9 hours a day in young people from 18 to 25 years old and adults from 26 to 64 years old, the hours are for a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 10 hours. Now a study comes to light that details that if you sleep more than 8 hours you are smarter.
It is the researcher Satoshi Kanazawa who carried out a very important study at the London School of Economics and Political Science, taking as a sample more than 20 thousand students that links people with a high IQ from childhood and these in their adult stage are prone to want more night hours in adult stage
The fact that they now prefer night hours, shows according to science a step to evolution, since the ancestors were only diurnal, they had to take advantage of daylight to hunt.
"According to this analysis, nocturnal habits would be an evolutionary novelty, something that our ancestors rarely practiced since they lived tied to daytime schedules and were forced to take advantage of sunlight to, for example, hunt," explains psychologist Bertrand Regader, director of psychologiaymente.net.
Regader has been the Digital Director of the Mente Sana and Your Baby magazines in the RBA publishing house, and as Digital Coordinator and SEO Manager in the digital version of the Saber Vivir magazine.
It should be noted that the aforementioned researcher Kanazawa describes that there are other studies that relate the night to creative potential. One of the clear examples of these studies is the one applied by Marina Giampietro of the University of the Sacred Heart of Milan.
She carried out an investigation in which she studied 120 people for their creative thinking, within the dynamics she divided the group between those who went to bed early and those who did not, and at the time of taking a test it was the second who came out best in the test.
"Intelligent individuals are those who are most capable of adhering to new habits, and we are talking about creators and geniuses; It is likely that we are thinking of subjects who are not easily carried away by cultural impositions, such as the habit of going to sleep early and getting up early, practices that perhaps we associate with a certain notion of social order, with the fulfillment of the working day, typical of a more methodical and organized lifestyle, and also more gregarious ”, argues Regader.
The researcher assures that creativity as one more mental process is affected by sleep health. Like intelligence, attention and productivity. So if you rest more and better (be it day or night) these skills will improve ”, says José Guillermo Fouce, doctor of psychology and professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.
It is very important that people have the normal sleep cycle that is around 7 hours, which according to Fouce. The most important thing would be to always keep the same hours and enjoy a few hours of sleep. In other words, maintaining hygienic sleeping habits, around 7 hours ”, adds Fouce.
Since sleep will always be a restorative of health.
