It has become known what the actor did in order to win one of the most important awards of the season
Joaquín Phoenix decided to make a peculiar visit the night in which he was crowned as the best male interpreter for "Joker" in the Actors Guild Awards (SAG): Go to a pig slaughterhouse, fully dressed, and give drink to the animals.
A video posted on Facebook shows how, after the ceremony, the actor participated in a vigil organized in Los Angeles (USA) by a group of activists who gave water to the animals waiting their turn at the slaughterhouse, crammed into a trailer.
"Most people don’t really know about torture and murder in the meat and dairy industry. I’ve seen it as it is, so I have to be here, " Phoenix explained to JaneUnChained News reporter Jane Velez. -Mitchell.
According to the actor, humans are "indoctrinated with happy images of animals on farms, on the lids of meat containers, in restaurants and it is a lie."

"I think people need to know the truth and we have an obligation to do so. Those of us who have seen how it really is, we have an obligation to expose it, so I have to be here," Phoenix insisted.
The award-winning interpreter came with a water spray and gave water to the animals in the front row, still dressed in the costume he wore at the ceremony, while the rest of the guests at the awards gala celebrated at the parties after the event.
"There is a change that is happening and now it is becoming undeniable. Slow but firm," he said. "It is so heartbreaking that we are giving water to pigs, like the optimism I have in our community and how committed everyone is. People come. here week after week after week, so I had to come here tonight and support. It’s a little antidote to what they just gave me, I’m lucky to be here. "
While Phoenix receives universal acclaim with his recent performances in "Joker" and "Her," the actor increasingly reveals his activist and planet-conscious side, as he shared in his speech when he won the Golden Globe this year.
In one of the most poignant speeches of the night, the actor assured that "wishing Australia the best" as several actors did during the gala, due to the fires that swept through part of the country, "it is very good but it is useless ", although" it is a beautiful gesture.
Thus, Phoenix insisted on the need to "make changes" in daily life and gave as an example that it was not necessary to "go on a private plane to Palm Springs" -a town near Hollywood- and announced that "I hoped to do better ".
