The numbers of infected and deaths do not decrease and people remain normal without respecting prevention measures
The Mexican Health authorities reported 4,790 infections and 587 deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the country to 133,974 confirmed cases with 15,944 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The general director of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía , pointed out that the accumulated burden of confirmed cases of coronavirus during this day rose by 3.7% compared to the 129,184 infections the previous day.
"We have maintained an increase every day of around these numbers, 4,790 for today; we have been in that amount, an increase of 3.7%," Alomía commented at a press conference at the National Palace.

Mexico registered this past Wednesday a record of infections in a single day with 4,883, while the highest number of deaths reported in a single day occurred on June 3 with 1,092 deaths.
Alomía pointed out that of the 133,974 cases accumulated during the pandemic, around 15% equivalent to 20,832 cases constitute the active epidemic in the country for having presented symptoms in the last 14 days.
He confirmed that in addition to the 15,944 deaths from COVID-19, the authorities have 1,490 deaths that are pending laboratory results to determine if the cause of death has been the SARS-CoV2 virus.
"Until the first half of May we had an upward trend (of deaths) and subsequently there has been a stability, although it is a stability above; we still do not see a decrease in that trend," said Alomía.
Mexico City and the State of Mexico show the highest burden of confirmed cases, assets and deaths because they are also the ones with the largest population in the country, said the specialist.
In the country, 381,139 people have been subjected to the study protocol, of which 191,465 tested negative while there are 55,700 suspected cases, which are concentrated in the last ten days, the average that it takes to confirm cases, explained the director of epidemiology.
The authorities reported that of the 23,876 general beds that the hospital system has, 10,959 remain in use, 46%, while another 12,917 are available for patients who require care but are not seriously ill.
The provision of intensive care beds reaches 8,188 throughout the country, of which 39%, about 3,125, are occupied and the rest, 5,063, are available.
Mexico kept its non-essential economy closed during the months of April and May, in which it applied contingency and confinement measures to its population, and as of June launched the stage of the new normal with a gradual opening based on a four-color traffic light in the states of the country.
