1,181,695 laboratory tests to detect the coronavirus have been applied in Mexico, accumulating 525,733 cases of COVID-19
Mexico registered 266 deaths and 3,571 infections from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, reaching 57,023 deaths and 525,733 cases since the pandemic began, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.
The infections and confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours presented percentage increases of 0.68% in cases and 0.46% in deaths compared to the reports of the previous day, said the health entity.
The director of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, said when presenting the daily technical report that since the beginning of the pandemic 1,181,695 laboratory tests have been applied to detect the coronavirus.

Alomía confirmed that 45% of these tests have yielded a positive result (525,733 cases) and that there is also a record of 577,531 with a negative result, while 78,431 remain as suspects pending the results of their clinical studies.
The official indicated that 560,338 cases and 58,898 deaths are estimated in the country when considering the confirmed data plus a percentage of suspected cases that are expected to have a positive result, of around 44%.
The number of patients recovered from the infection of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus reached 359,347 patients this Monday, said the director of Epidemiology.
The country’s hospital network reported to date a total of 15,688 occupied beds, of which 12,152 are for general patients and 3,536 for patients who occupy spaces with a ventilator and intubation equipment.
The occupied general patient beds represent 38% of those in the hospital network and in the intensive care network it is 34%, explained the official of the Ministry of Health.
Hospital occupancy is one of the elements that the authorities take into account to determine the color of the COVID risk traffic light that is applied in each of the 32 states of the Mexican Republic.
Currently, the state of Campeche is in a yellow phase, of medium risk, six states in red with maximum contagion and 25 in orange with high contagion.
