Both infected and deceased continue to increase in Mexico, causing the covid-19 that began in the country at the end of February
The Ministry of Health of Mexico reported this Friday accumulated figures of 55,908 deaths and 511,369 cases of COVID-19 by adding the 615 deaths and 5,618 infections reported in the last 24 hours.
The infections and deaths contained in the daily technical report on the coronavirus showed similar percentage growth of 1.11% in both statistics, compared to the previous day’s figures.
The director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, José Luis Alomía, said that 1,156,852 tests have been carried out to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus since the epidemic was declared in the country at the end of February.

Confirmed cases in the country represent around 44% of the total tests carried out, in addition to 48% -equivalent to 559,974- that yielded a negative result, Alomía explained when presenting the day’s figures.
The official explained that in addition to the positives and negatives, there are currently 85,509 suspicious patients who are waiting for the results of their laboratory tests to find out their clinical condition.
When considering a percentage of suspected cases and deaths that will give a positive result in the laboratory, it is estimated that in the country there may be 57,797 deaths and 549,043 cases.
The estimated active cases, as the patients who develop symptoms during the last 14 days are called, would reach 44,983, 8% of the total, said Alomía.
The Mexican hospital network reported an occupation of 12,374 general beds, 39% of the 31,640 available in the country to treat non-serious coronavirus patients; and 3,646 intensive care, 34% of the 10,708 existing.
The states of Colima, Nuevo León, Nayarit and Coahuila, register the highest occupation of general beds in the country, all above 60%; and in intensive care, only Colima and Nuevo León are above 50% occupancy, Alomía pointed out.
When announcing the COVID-19 risk traffic light that will be in effect from August 17 to 30, it was confirmed that there will be six states in red with maximum contagion, 24 in orange with high contagion and one state, Campeche, in yellow with medium risk.
