The country is celebrating that it discharged the last patient with Covid-19 and it has been without contagion for more than five consecutive days
A glimmer of hope appeared amid all the bad news about the coronavirus pandemic . Although the WHO continues to warn about the care that must be taken to avoid a second peak in this first wave, there are some countries that have already managed to cross the line and are free of the virus.
As in the case of Nueva, which is free of Covid-19 and has discharged its last patient . It has already managed not to have a single hospitalized patient and five consecutive days without any new case of contagion.
These figures are too encouraging, especially given the difficult situation in America.
The key
According to what was said by The Lancet, they have achieved it thanks to the strict quarantine that they implemented at the right time was the key to stopping the infections.
New Zealand had only 102 cases and no deaths when Jacinta Ardern, the country’s prime minister, announced the total closure of the nation, causing them to be recognized worldwide.
Unlike the traditional model dedicated to mitigating the virus, New Zealand worked hard to eliminate it. They concentrated on ending the contagion for good rather than seeking to delay it, thereby winning the battle.

This is already considered an achievement, those total figures are the most successful that have been presented. 1,154 cases and only 21 deaths have been registered in a population of 4.886 million inhabitants. As stated by Public Health Officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield, closing the borders was of the utmost importance in keeping the infection out of the country.
Check the figures
The country has carried out 267,435 tests, apart from developing monitoring tools through an application, with which it was learned that there are still 21 people with active cases, but that they have not needed hospitalization, since it is a simple situation.
